Overall comparison of increase or decrease in number of life insurance offices in 2012-13

During the financial year 2012-13, private insurers closed 1097 offices and opened 144 offices resulting in a net reduction of 953 offices. On the contrary, public sector insurer LIC, established 71 new offices without closing any offices resulting in a increase of 71 offices. The total number of offices of life insurers decreased from 11,167 as on 31st March, 2012 to10,285 as on 31st March, 2013.
